2020 Choristers Guild Children’s Choir Festival

General Information:

Date: Saturday, March 7, 2020
Times: Mandatory Directors Meeting and Chapter Annual Meeting from 10:30 am until 11:10 am.
Chaperone Meeting from 9:15 am. until 9:30 am.
Choristers (usually grades 2-6*) – Registration at 8:15 am. Seating starts at 8:30 am.
Concert at 2:30 pm.
(* Seventh and eighth graders may be included as long as their voices have not yet changed.)

Clinician: Claire Hodge is a private voice teacher, soloist, conductor, clinician, and vocal coach. A graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music, Claire enjoyed performing with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops Orchestra under renowned conductors. Since moving to the Orlando area, she has been involved with the Orlando Opera Company, the boys and girls choirs of the Cathedral of St. Luke, and the Lutheran Cantata Choir. Her other activities include being a vocal coach for the Royal School of Church Music, providing training for children and youth with the Orlando Opera, and serving as clinician for numerous Florida school events including Seminole County’s “Guys’ Day of Singing”. photo of clinician

Registration fee will be waived if form is mailed by February 7, 2020

Sharon Hall Memorial Scholarship Fund:

Sharon Hall was a Children's Choir Director at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, a charter member of the Central Florida Chapter of Choristers Guild. After her death in 1996, the Central Florida Chapter of Choristers Guild established the Sharon Hall Scholarship Fund to honor Mrs. Hall's commitment to, enthusiam for and love of children and music. The scholarship fund will cover festival registration fees for choristers and/or directors in financial need. Choristers may choose two interest groups.
* Students choosing Drama or Dance will only choose one interest group since they will use both sessions to prepare for the concert.

Permission Form:

A permission form must be filled out for each chorister and turned into the festival registrar before name tags and schedules will be given out on the morning of the festival. This is to ensure safety of the children in case there is an emergency and the director cannot be immediately located. A form can be found by clicking on the Festival Forms Button on the side of this page. We also ask that each church have an emergency person at home (someone that can be called and who will contact the rest of the parents in case of an emergency).

The block contains 15 rooms each with two doouble beds. Maximum of 4 persons per room.

Reservations must be accompanied by an organization check (personal checks are not accepted) for the first night’s lodging or guaranteed under a valid American Express, Diner’s Club, VISA, MasterCard, or Discover credit card number. Cancellation policy is 72 hours from date of arrival. Check Payments required a minimum of 10 days prior to Arrival date along wiht tax exempt forms (if applicable).

Travel Directions to St. Stephen Catholic Community:

All Drivers, Enter the church property at the driveway on the south side of the church adjacent to the feather flag (see photo), drive past the second set of buildings, and park in the rear.

From the south, take FL 417 north toward Sanford. Take exit 38 (Aloma Avenue/ FL426); keep left on the exit ramp to turn left (west) on Aloma Avenue. Go .5 mile and turn right on Tuskawilla Rd. The church is on the right in 4.3 miles (just after the light at Winter Springs Blvd. and the decorative fountains).

From the north, take FL 417 south to exit 44 (FL 419 / FL 434). Turn right (west), go 2.5 miles, then turn left on Tuskawilla Rd. The church is on the left in 1.5 miles.

From the LaQuinta Inn, go west on Research Parkway, then turn right (north) on FL434/Alafaya Trail. Go .7 mile, then turn left on University Boulevard. Go 2.3 miles, then turn right onto Dean Road. Go 1.7 miles and turn left onto Aloma Ave. (FL426). Go 1.0 miles and turn right on Tuskawilla Rd. The church is on the right in 4.3 miles (just after the light at Winter Springs Blvd. and the decorative fountains.

Lunch is pizza and fruit. If anyone cannot eat this please have him / her bring a lunch from home.

Dress for the day and the concert:

—Shorts or slacks
—Tee shirt or polo shirt (a shirt representing your choir or church is great)
—Tennis shoes with socks (please emphasize "safe" shoes for climbing on choral risers)
